Somehow, hyperlinks in all my MSWord documents, which used to appear
as blue and underlined, now instead appear as { HYPERLINK
"http:....." } How can I change this back to the normal hyperlink
format?

You've accidentally set Word to display field codes. Go to Word>Preferences,
View, and uncheck the box that reads "Field codes".
