A frustration I'm having with Arabic support in Word for Mac is that
the keyboard viewer switches back to the Roman letters whenever Word
is opened. Everything looks fine with the language support setup and
the keyboard viewer until Word is executed at which time the keyboard
viewer switches back to the Roman letter keyboard view. Although the
keyboard viewer is playing its tricks, the Word document shows the
Arabic characters that I've typed.

I am sorry, but I am not surprised.

Word 2004 does not HAVE any support for Arabic.

Sorry:  It was designed before OS X supported right-to-left languages.

Windows XP and Windows Vista do have RTL support, so PC Word supports
Arabic.

We are hoping that the next version of Mac Word (2008) "might" have Arabic
support.  But there is no guarantee that it will, we just don't know...

Cheers
