You landed to Mac group, however, few of my hints:
Did just word shut itself overnight or whole PC? Could that be of automatic
updates of Win, that took place and the Pc was restarted afterwards?

I have no reason to believe the PC shut itself down, though I didn't think of
automatic updates. I will look into that. Thank you.

Also you can look at scheduled tasks in Control Panel>Scheduled tasks
