I have added a new Font to the Font book. It took several tries to
get it right in the Font Book but is ok now. However in Word it had a
totally different appearance or sometimes just appears as boxed
capital A's or slashes. I thing I just need to eliminate the Font
from Word's font list but don't know how. Any ideas?

If you can't trust yourself not to use it in Word I think your only
option is to disable the font in Font Book before starting Word. Making
use of "collections" is not a bad idea. Make an "Everyday" collection
that is a good balance of speed and variety. In Font Book, choose "All
Fonts" select the whole lot and hit disable. Click the "yeah yeah I
know already" button when it complains. Then choose your "Everyday"
collection, select the lot and hit "enable". Then start Word.
Oh wait! You actually want to use it in Word?
The answer will depend on what version of Word you have. v.X does not
handle Unicode at all. It can use Unicode fonts, but only a tiny subset
of the glyphs in each. Word 2004 is better, but still slightly flawed.
Is your font TrueType, Postscript, OpenType or bitmap? Post back and
I'll try to help.
Tell us a bit about the font too. I'm wary of the " It took several
tries to get it right in the Font Book but is ok now."

I somehow needed to get Word to dump the corrupt version of my font.
Also still had a problem with installing it in font book. I found a
suggestion in the book "Troubleshooting Mac OSX" from the X Lab to
restart in Safe Mode which removes the font cache. Seems to have been
the answer.

Thanks. Would you mind rechecking the link. Can't find it using
Firefox. Maybe Microsoft pulled or moved it.
