Hi, I have noticed over the last few months that on occasion I will open an existing file, make some changes, save the file, and then close the document window. Then when I go to look for the file in the location I saved i, it is not there or at least not visible. Usually at this point, I can re-open the file from list of recently used files under the file menu. I then save the file again and it magically re-appears just where it was supposed to be. Sometimes it takes a couple of save attempts. The most recent occurrences of this behavior have happened when I opened an existing file, used file save as to create a new filename. I am not sure if this was a common aspect of the previous occurrences. Has anyone else experienced similar behavior and were you able to fix the problem? Whenever this has happened to me, I've found that it's an issue with how often/long it takes MacOS to refresh the file list. If I wait long enough (usually, but not always a matter of a few seconds), the file shows up. If I'm in a hurry, I sometimes navigate away from and then back to the target folder, and it's always visible. Not sure it makes any difference, but I feel better for having done something. Interessting. I thought that it might be that problem at one point too. I know I have tried closing and opening the folder containing the invisible file. Yet that did not make the file visible either so I thought maybe I was wrong. Is there a way to get OS X to manually refresh? Next time it happens I could try to see if that is it. |
