Hi,

I have noticed over the last few months that on occasion I will open
an existing file, make some changes, save the file, and then close the
document window. Then when I go to look for the file in the location I
saved i, it is not there or at least not visible. Usually at this
point, I can re-open the file from list of recently used files under
the file menu. I then save the file again and it magically re-appears
just where it was supposed to be. Sometimes it takes a couple of save
attempts.

The most recent occurrences of this behavior have happened when I
opened an existing file, used file save as to create a new filename. I
am not sure if this was a common aspect of the previous occurrences.

Has anyone else experienced similar behavior and were you able to fix
the problem?

I am running Word 11.3, on OS 10.4.9, intel based MacBook.

Whenever this has happened to me, I've found that it's an issue with how
often/long it takes MacOS to refresh the file list. If I wait long
enough (usually, but not always a matter of a few seconds), the file
shows up. If I'm in a hurry, I sometimes navigate away from and then
back to the target folder, and it's always visible. Not sure it makes
any difference, but I feel better for having done something.

If you can reopen the file from the recently used file list, it *is*
actually saved in that location.

Interessting. I thought that it might be that problem at one point
too. I know I have tried closing and opening the folder containing the
invisible file. Yet that did not make the file visible either so I
thought maybe I was wrong. Is there a way to get OS X to manually
refresh? Next time it happens I could try to see if that is it.
