As far as I understood, when you open Word some document with some text
appears?
If so, then you probably somehow get something in your normal template.
So locate normal document on your HDD. Should be here:
Word 2004: ~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Normal
Word X, Word 2001, Word 98: /Applications/Microsoft Office
***/Templates/Normal (where *** stands for your version of Office)
open it, delete all the text there and save it.

Or: Quit out of Word, navigate to your Normal Template and drag it to the
trash. When you relaunch Word, it will create a new, blank Normal template.
