Word for Office 2004 with the latest updates for Office 2004 and Mac OSX still does not print. You have to go into the printer utility and click on reset printer and restart your Mac and then setup the printer and then it will print once or twice before it stops again! Tossing out the preferences doesn't fix the problem either Word or Printing preferences. Using gimp drivers doesn't fix the problem. This happens on two different Macs running the latest of Office 2004 and OSX and they both have the same problem in Word 2004 only! Word seems to lose the printer connection so if you try and toss your printer out and re-add the driver it suddenly can't find it anymore. The only way you will be able to find it again is by using the printer Utility in the utilities folder and click on reset printers and then restart. Then and only then will it find the printer after Word 2004 craps out when trying to print a document of any kind. Microsoft needs to fix this now! Have you checked the printer mfr web site for an updated driver? If you scour the forum you'll find that there doesn't seem to be other posts of a similar problem. If the driver update doesn't fix the situation (Along with Repair Disk Permissions), post back with more detail about the printer(s) involved. Printing is a function of the OS & the printer software - Word simply hands the information off... although there could be something about the documents you're trying to print. What abot them?
