Thank you, Ms. Rosengard, for the link. I've bookmarked it while I try
to find out if this really is the one thing I can do to restore those
fonts that I deleted (and I mean totally deleted, even from the Trash
itself).

My whole question is: Is it the deletion of those fonts (Asian ones
that apparently have other purposes besides being used as fonts) that
has caused my Speakeasy Webmail to stop boldfacing my unread messages?

I don't think that anyone here has ever heard of, or used, Speakeasy
Webmail. Why don't you write its support email address (or a mailing list,
if they have one) and ask them?

I just took a look at Speakeasy.  Paul's right -- probably none of us have
ever used it, so we don't know.

However, from what I can see without a Speakeasy login, it's not the missing
fonts themselves that is the problem, so much as the font that was
substituted by your system and is now in use.

Speakeasy appears to be coded in UTF-8 using XML and Javascript.  Chances
are, you can set fonts and colours to suit yourself in the application, and
if you don't, it will use your system defaults.

However, it will require a Unicode font.  If you took away the Asian fonts,
you took away a big proportion of the Unicode fonts on your system.  What it
falls back to then may be a quite different character set.

See if you can persuade it to use Arial and Times New Roman as its fonts.
The Microsoft and Apple flavours of those fonts are both Unicode, and should
work with Speakeasy.

Hope this helps
