Automatic heading cross referencing, anyone?

Hi - I'm using Word:mac 11.2 on Mac OS X 10.4.6, and I have a document
with a number of section headings.

I'm using Insert -> Index and Tables -> Table of Contents to generate a
table of contents at the beginning of my document, containing each
section heading.

Is there a built-in feature to automate making each Table of Contents
entry a cross-reference (hyperlink) to the appropriate heading? I can
do this manually, but it takes a while.

If there isn't a built-in feature to do this, would it be possible
using a macro?

Thanks in advance,
Mac Word Fan

Hello Fan -

My guess is that you have tried clicking the topics, but *not* the page
numbers themselves (hint, hint).

You might also get an even bigger boost if you go to View>Navigation Pane...
You won't have to keep going back to the TOC to jump to any other area of
the doc - assuming you are formatting your topics by way of Styles.

Aha! It's taken me a few days to be able to give this a go, but that's
just what I wanted to do. Thanks!

I'm not kidding; I got butterflies in my stomach. Ah, such a geek.

Yes.

It has already done it for you.

Double-click the page number :-)

Due to a design bug, Mac Word does not have the PC Word feature that turns
the entire entry into a hyperlink, but the page number still contains a link
to the heading bookmark.

Cheers
