Spell checker in protected form

i have just set a survey for my students using a protected form.
the students have areas they need to write sentences.
i highlighted each 'greyed' area, went into tools, set language, and off
ticked do not spell check, expecting that to run spell check in the text
field - it doesn't.
can anyone help me solve this problem?

Hi,

spell checking is disabled in protected documents. However, there is a
workaround using VBA, as described on this page:
http://word.mvps.org/faqs/macrosvba/SpellcheckProtectDoc.htm
