Hi Bob -
Afraid I haven't done anything in Word 2001/OS 9 in a while, so my memory is
a little lacking, but you might take a look at the troubleshooting tips
provided here;
http://word.mvps.org/Mac/TroubleshootWord2001.html
The 'Rebuild the Desktop' and/or 'Word Settings' sections should address
your problem effectively.

Hi Bob,
Not sure I know what's gone wrong, but here are a few things to try:
1. Rebuild your desktop.
2. Test/Trash your preferences.
3. Test/Trash your Normal template.
You'll find the procedures for all of the above (plus others that *may* be
the answer) here: <http://word.mvps.org/Mac/TroubleshootWord2001.html>.
