"Not enough memory or disk space" error message

Good day,

I'm having a problem with one seat of Microsoft Word v.X (10.1.6). It's on a
Power Mac G5 1.6 GHz processor with 1.25 GB of RAM installed. The hard drive
is 80 GB in size and is about 45 percent full.

Once Word is launched, the user can create and save Word documents. And once
saved, the user can re-open the files they created. However, some Word files
sent by other users will result in the following error message when this
user tries to open it. The document tries to open, but as soon as it appears
on the screen, it immediately disappears and shows the following error
message:

"There is not enough memory or disk space to complete the operation."

Once the error message appears, the user cannot create new documents or open
documents the user previously created. Each attempt results in the same
error message.

This problem occurs regardless of the number of programs open or after a
restart. I've trashed Word preferences and it has not made a difference. I
have not reinstalled the app yet, but that's my next step.

Any thoughts on this matter?

Thanks in advance.

John

Thanks, CyberTaz. I'll give that a try and see if that fixes the problem.

Sorry for the late response, but my boss was kind enough to give me a very
long weekend off work, and I certainly took advantage of it. :)

Thanks again!

John
