Hi Folks,

I've been using MS Word for Mac since 2003. It as worked
well. But recently I've be getting spinning beach balls
, hanging, force quit etc.

It is very frustrating.

E-rage is working good.

Any suggestions?

Hi John:

OS 10.3.9 works well :-)

Failing that: Slow-downs over time are usually collected trash, in either
the document or its template.

Which template are you using for those documents?  (If you don't know, it's
probably "Normal" template -- have a look in Tools>Templates and Add-ins...)

If it is Normal, quit Word then rename Normal (doesn't matter to what...).
Word will create a new one on start-up.  Check your Startup folder: if
there's anything in there, drag it to the desktop.

Other things that can slow it down are fonts.  If you have a large number of
fonts, take out half of them and see if that makes a difference.

If you have inadvertently left Tracked Changes switched on but hidden, the
continuous collection of changes will severely slow Word down: check for
this.

You can get munged preferences in ~/library/preferences/microsoft/...  Quit
all Office applications and re-name that folder.  The Office applications
will create a new set on startup.

Hope these help

F@&KING slow MS Word 11.2.3You might also find that Repair Disk Permissions
can resolve most of those issues - especially if you didn't do so before &
after the 10.4.6 update.
