Hi Tim,
Try looking in /USER/Documents/Microsoft User Data for files with names
such as "Word Work File A_x" where x = integer and USER is your (short)
login name on the Mac. The User's Documents/Microsoft User Data is the place
Word X will place a "Work" file in the case of a crash (if it's able to). If
you have Office/Word 2004, I "think" it places the "Work" file in the same
place, but someone else with Office 2004 can correct me if that's incorrect.
Another place to look for Word "Work" files is in /Applications/Microsoft
Office X/Templates in the case you were working on a Word template when the
crash occurred.
Good luck!

Ed, Tim,
Word 2004 does indeed place the Word Work files in the same place.
