I can't activate my Custom Dictionary. I check the box next to it in
the Dictionaries window, I click OK, and nothing happens. I still can't
add words during a spell check. I've tried setting the language to
"English US," and I've tried setting the language to "None." Every time
I go back to the Dictionaries window, there's my Custom Dictionary,
unchecked and unactivated. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks!

Hi Whatever your name Is:

It's either bad preferences or a bad custom dictionary.

First, rename or delete your custom dictionary, then create a new one.

If that doesn't fix it, you may need to remove your Preferences.

See here:

Hope this helps

Many thanks, John. I created a new Custom Dictionary, and it works just
fine. I'm so glad to have this problem solved!! Thank you again.

Hi Priscilla:

Thanks, good to know.

Make sure you have the latest updates applied to Microsoft Office -- the
"Corrupt custom dictionary problem" was supposed to be fixed in a service
release :-)

Cheers
