Word X buggy with large monitor?

I recently bought a 19" monitor to hook up to my 12" PB. It seems that
Word X prefers a smaller screen. It won't let me resize a document to
fill the full vertical space, and when I open a doc, I get a blank area
at the bottom and have to shrink the size in order for the status bar
to appear. Also, I get more scrolling problems, the text will disappear
or start repeating.

Have others seen this problem, and is Office 2004 an improvement? I
really don't want to upgrade now, but just wondering.

About the most comprehensive & recent of numerous threads on the
problem is;

IIRC, you can log out, add 2nd monitor, log in & launch Word to work
around the issue.

Thanks, logging out seemed to work. Slightly inconvenient but I'm happy
there's at least a workaround.

Andy:

Grab Word 12 for the Mac when it comes out: it's guaranteed not to have this
issue :-)  In the meantime, keep applying Apple updates.  Apple has logged
this as partly a bug on their side, which means they may issue a fix for it
sometime.

Cheers
