How can I?

I find that I have to manually change from "Restart Numbering" to  "Continue
from previous section" in every section of my document even though the
header is "same as previous".

Word 2004 11.2

imac G5

OS X 10.4.3

Thanks in advance

Hmmm.... "continue from previous" is the default here. (Word 2004, OS
10.3.9)

Is this the default in every new doc on your machine, or just this one doc?

A little testing suggests that in an existing doc, Word uses as default
whatever the previous section was, when inserting a section. So (I think),
let's say you did your pages i-iv intro, new section 2 restarting at 1,
created lots of new sections--they all picked up that "restart at 1"
setting.

But if you had typed the intro, created the sections, then went back and set
Section 2 to restart at 1, I think the rest would have been set to "continue
from previous".  Or if you had switched Section 3 right away, creation of
section 4 forward would have picked it up, I think.
