formatting palette jumps off the screen

I open the standard tool bar in Office X. When I click the formatting
palette it simply tries to open somewhere off the screen so is not
available for use. This doesn't happen with excel. I have uninstalled
office and reinstalled with no change. Any suggestions would be very
gratefully received

sort it and all's well again
