Can somone please help me,

Every so often when I send a word document to a pc computer the
tracking is on when they open the document on their screen.  HOWEVER!!!
it is not on when I send the document to them in my office word.

Please help... what do I do?

Sorry for the basic question, but are you _sure_ it isn't turned on in the
doc before you send?

I ask because not seeing it doesn't mean the markup isn't there. If you
haven't already, turn on the Reviewing Toolbar to see if it displays Final
or Original in the Display for Review list. If it does, open the Display for
Review list & choose Final Showing Markup as well as Original Showing Markup
just to be sure.

Hello kovacics,

I can't fully understand what the difference is when you say "when I send a
word document to a PC" and "when I send the document to them in my office
word"; nor whether you wanted Track Changes on or off.  Perhaps you could
post back to clarify the situation.

In the meantime, it may help to know that you can switch Track Changes on
and off with the keystroke Command-Shift-e. On the PC it's Control-Shift-e
(at least it was in Word 200).

Cheers,

* A SUGGESTION -- WAIT FOR CONSIDERED ADVICE: If you post a question, keep
re-visiting the newsgroup for several days after the first response comes
in. Sometimes it takes a few responses before the best or complete solution
is proposed; sometimes you'll be asked for further information so that a
better answer can be provided. Good tips about getting the best out of
posting are at http://word.mvps.org/FindHelp/Posting.htm (if you use Safari
you may see a blank page and have to hit the circular arrow icon -- "Reload
the current page" -- a few times).

* AVOID SPAM: To avoid spam directed at contributors of newsgroups, you can
set up a "send-only" dummy e-mail account. Full guidelines are at

It depends how you send the document.

If you send it via email as an attachment, it should open the way you left
it.

If you send it for reviewing, or they open it in Outlook, and they are using
Word as their email editor in Outlook, and they have "Allow starting in
Reading mode" set as an Outlook option, the document will open in Reviewing
mode, with the reviewing toolbar displayed and Track Changes While Editing
turned on.

I don't think it's anything YOU are doing :-)

Cheers
