Whenever I try to close a word doc, I receive a message "Compile error.
Can't find project or library".   When I ckick "ok", the visual basic
editor opens.

I don't seem to have this problem with word docs that are emailed to
me.  It seems to be relegated to word docs in a specific folder.

It sounds like there is a macro trying to run on close that can't run.

In one of the documents that misbehaves, go to Tools | Macro | Macros. Look
in the list for a macro named AutoClose.  If it's there, that's the problem.
You can click Edit, to see what it does, or can delete it if you think you
don't need it.

Thanks Daiya.  I have looked at the Macros and did not see an
autoclose.  I also tried comparing the macros in some of my "bad" docs
with macros in other docs that weren't having a problem.  The same
macros are present in each type of document.  I only seem to be having
problems in documents that share the same template.  Is there a
possibility that there is some type of issue with the template?

Yes, check for Macros in the Template.
