"Shared" can mean either [or both] of at least two things: Stored where more
than one user can have access to it and/or able to be opened & edited by
more than one user at a time. If you mean the latter the answer is No [for
most practical situations].

If the file is stored in a shared location more than one user can have
access to it. Also, more than one user can have the file open. However, only
the first one to open the file can make & save changes. Anyone else opening
the file once the first user has it open is relegated to Read Only.
