Word 2004 won't open email attachments after security update

After the 11.4.2 update, release May 13th, when I get emails in
Entourage with Word docs attached, they have a generic document icon
and if you double-click them, they don't open with Word, they try to
open with OpenOffice. Plus you don't have the option to pick an app
to use.

If you drag the attachment to desktop it still has generic icon, but
you can right-click and choose "open with" and pick Word, and they
open fine. Or you can pick "Other," then find the Word app and check
"always open with" and then the icon changes to Word and they are fine
from then on.

This started with the update, and is a royal pain.

Anyone having similar issue or know of fix?

Select a Word document in the Finder. Do cmd-I to Get Info. Under Open
With, set it to your current version of Word, and then select Change
All. That should do it. You might have to do some relaunching to get it
to take effect.

By the way, once you have attempted to open an attachment by
double-clicking it, Entourage automatically downloads it into
[username]/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Saved Attachments (even if the
attachment doesn't open). You can always use File | Open to navigate
there and access it. (I find that easier than dragging to the desktop)

I don't think you've ever been able to use the Open With options from
within Entourage--the right-click Open With is a Finder feature.
