Macintosh running OS 10.3.8  and Windows Media Player 9.  Many (but not all)
of downloads give an error message: "Cannot play back the file.  The file
format is invalid".  All files shows up with a perfectly good .wmv icon.
Help, please.  I'm missing a lot of good stuff.

On files on your own Mac ?? Is there any unusual character in the name
of the hard drive or the name of any folder in the path to your file ??

But isn't this error message typical for valid PC WMV files that use all
those codecs that can't be read by Mac WM?
A large portion of the WMV files I come across can't be read by the
current Mac WM.
(Everyone should use Quicktime) ;-)

Well I usually get a warning telling me that the codec isn't supported
(or that the file has unsupported DRM). I don't remember seing anything
telling me the fileis corrupted in this specific context.

:-) You could use the Flip4Mac codecs for QT. They are still far from
perfection, but they somehow work...
