Unable to Install WMP 9 on Mac 10.3.9

I have tried to install WMP 9 on my Mac a handful of times. I have
downloaded the file several times, unstuffed it with Stuffit Exnander, and
when the time comes to install the file, the box comes up that says "Number
of Files to Install," then the accursed beach ball thingie spins and spins.
No files are installed. What do I do to make this install?

Also, does anyone else encounter a lot of Windows Media files that play
sound, but no image?
