Can't open protected content on my Mac

I've downloaded WMAs from the downloads section of windowsmedia.com (hosted
by neuroticmedia.com), and also from weedshare.com, but am unable to open
them on my 2 Panther boxes. I get the message:

"Cannot open the file. Verify that the path and filename are correct and
try again."

This happens almost immdiately after WMP comes up. The browser doesn't even
come up for license acqusition.

I've gone through all the uninstall/reinstall troubleshooting to no avail.
Any other ideas?

- try deleting the pref file and .plist for WMP
- try repairing permissions ont eh Mac through Disk Utility
- make sure there is no "unusual" character in the path to the
applciation or in the path to the file

Beside that, for files, there is not much more you could do.

Thanks, I've tried those things. How common an occurrence is this? Although
I know it's officially supported, just how broken is WMP on the Mac, in
general?

VERY VERY common!!!

The app is full of bugs. Take a look at the FAQ and it'll show you all
the areas that jsut don't work :-(
