I listened to ESPN radio for months online and then started getting the
message "Cannot open the file. Verity that the path and filename are correct.
Try again." About once a month I can listen for a day or two and then it
returns to the error above. It happens with other feeds as well. I'm using
the most recent version of WMP on my MAC running OS 10.2.8.

Try trashing the pref file and .plist for WMP (in the preferneceoflder
in your user account). That usually does the trick,

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately it didn't work. Each time I attempt
to use WMP it puts another pref file in the user library and I get the same
message. I'm not very user saavy with this sort of thing on the MAC I use at
work. Any help is appreciated.   Thanks

It sure shoudl put a new pref file. Trahsing the existing one is just a
workaround in case the file is corrupted and preventing the app from
properly connecting. The app will always re-create a fresh new
(hopefully not corrupted) one.
And waht about trashing the .pliust, does this help ??
The file is there:
~/Library/Preferences/com.microsoft.mediaplayer.plist

Yes, I did remove the .plist as you suggested. It didn't return as the pref
did. I have tried reinstalling wmp.  Thanks again

Weird that it didn't come back :-\

Can you at least play the example file that comes with WMP itself ??
