When i download a WMP file, the player comes up with a picture of the PLAY
button and an error message reading:  "an error occurred".  Went to the FAQ's
where i read that WMV is not supported by Unix and that a Mac user needs to
use an "extended" hard drive, but did not provide enough information there.

Downloaded player twice, and have attempted to play several times with
different files.

Thank you, darci

The file is probably corrupeted... That's the installer for WMP. I would
guess that you first need to update Stuffit expander to the latest
version, then make sure you decompress the WMP installer with it.

What FAQ ??? Could you give me the address ??? Is it this one:

???

Extented hard drive ??? I think what they meant is different (that has
to be from the MS page):
WMP will not install on a drive formatted in UFS (Unix file system). It
requires that the drive has been formatted in HFS (Hierarchical File
System) which is the case on 99.999% of the Mac.

You really need to WANT to format the drive in UFS it usually doesn't
happen by mistake. Only a very few people accessing the drives from UNIX
machines and a few geeks actually use UFS.

I would definitively go for a Stuffit problem. Make sure you update it.
