New WMP not playing audio of its own demo .wmv file

Hi, I'm on an imac G5, Mac OS 10.3.7, and just downloaded WMP 9 for Mac. For
any .wmv files, it plays video, but no audio, even for the demo .wmv file
that comes with the download.

I get a message at the beginning that says "This file may not play correctly
because it was compressed with a code that is not supported," which I find
rather interesting, because it ought to be able to play it's own demo file.

Can anyone shed some light on this issue? It's very much appreciated!

Much warmth, forest

I've seen similar prolems, but not with this warning. You should try
deleting the pref file and the .plist file that are in
/Users/you/Library/Preferences
then try repairing permissions on the drive using Disk Utility.
Hopefully it should be enough to at least play the demo file ;-))

I'm glad it did :-))
Repairing permissions for instance very often corrects weird problems
with a bunch of apps. People should think about doig this at least once
oa month or before and after any major install...
