Is it possible to talk to the player on the Mac at all?

I am looking for a way to this with WinMedia 9 OSX, in FireFox:

A) Get the status of the player (stopped, playing)
B) Get the current time of the player
C) Tell the player to move the playhead

Problems:

FireFox to my knowledge does not support ActiveX.

"Windows Media Player 9 for Mac OS X does not provide access to the plug-in
object model by using script code. You can set certain properties as
attributes by using the PARAM tag when you embed the Player. The following is
the list of properties for which values may be specified when embedding
Windows Media Player 9 for Mac OS X:"

So item C on my list should be possible, I can re-embed the player each time
with a new start time. Ugly but should work.

But A & B elude me. Does anyone have any idea how this can be accomplished?

thanks

I am embedding streaming wmv's and they work great in IE and Firefox for
windows, but I can't script the player at all on the Mac
Have you found anything else out? It looks bleak
