I have an archive of WMA Lossless audio files on an NTFS formatted external
drive that I am trying to use on a new G5 with latest MacOS patches.
WMP will not play the files yet the blurb states that WMA Lossless is
supported.
1. Do you know what Gods I have to sacrifice to to get this to work?
2. Does any other audio player on Mac support WMA Lossless?

I doubt it... Nevertheless, you could try converting the files to
another format. You can try either of these products:

Does this mean that WMP 9 on MacOS does not support playback of WMA Lossless
files?

it doesn't support anything but old wma and some other not used formats

I checked out the page where MS lists the supported codecs:

It lists:

> Windows Media Audio Lossless Decode

I don;t know much about the differnet wma formats (they could have more
than one such lossless formats) but it looks promising (except for the
fact you can't manage to play the files :-< ).
