I get a message that says "you need to upgrade to wiindows media player 9 to
play this file"
so i did, and i installed it, and rebooted, and I still get the message.
I checked the library but I have no plis that says media player.
What do I do?

Can you play the file on a Windows computer?  Does the file contain DRM7?
Microsoft does not make DRM7 available on a Macintosh.  That file may also
use a codec that does not have a Macintosh version.  Ask the person where
you got the file from what codec was used for the file.

is there a program that converts wmvs into other formats?

You are either warned on the web site, or WMP tells you when you try to
open the file.

Well no. DRM stands for Digital Right Management. The idea is to prevent
you from "playing around" with the file. Transcoding the file to another
format would have to bypass the DRM protection...

I myself am frustrated trying to play wmv 9 files on a Mac OS9 with Media
player 7.1..I can hear the audio, but no video.
