WMP no sound but with video

Im using window XP with media player 11.I have downloaded lots of avi
files,all the while is ok to open. Lately some of the files were unable to
open.Some of them can open with video displayed but audio cannot be
heard.Please kindly assist.Thank you.

You're in the wrong newsgroup then. This is the newsgroup for the Mac
version of WMP.
You should probably repost in the regular WMP newsgroup to find a better
answer :-\

Then you should repost in one of the regular WMP newsgroups as well.
This is the group for the Mac version of WMP (hence the .mac at the end
of the name of the group),
