Hum.....
This is the group for the Mac version of WMP.
You might want to repost in one of the regular WMP groups,

Those should be MPEG-2 video, so if you rename the file extension to
end in .mpg instead of .mod does it work then ?

If not, you're missing an MPEG-2 (DVD video) decoder.
The DecCheck program can tell you if you've got one installed

Typically, if the camera came with a disk of software, "JVC tools"
they should have provided that decoder on the disk to allow you to
play back the files. Otherwise you'll have to purchase one - NVidia
and Elecard make WMP compatible MPEG-2 (DVD) decoders eg

http://www.nvidia.com/object/dvd_decoder.html
http://elecard.com/products/products-pc/codec-pack/mpeg2-decoder-plugin/

Both those have 21 or 30 day trial versions to test with - that will
get you DVD playback in media player as well, if you haven't already
tried that.

Here's a site with some background info on those camera models :

The .<a href="http://www.videoconverterdownload.com/mod.html">Mod file</a> is
the video file format used on many digital camcorders, such as the JVC
Everio, and the Panasonic D-Snap SD-card camcorders. I have seen all the JVC
mod file problems and hope that the following is helpful. MOD files are not
MPEG-2 files although the video they contain is MPEG-2 (in the same way that
VOB files are not MPEG-2 files). You should use <a

converter</a>. The <a href="http://www.modconverter.com/">mod converter</a>
would help you convert Mod to AVI, MPG, MPEG1, MPEG2, WMV, ASF, DivX, XviD,
MP4, VCD, SVCD, DVD-Video, VOB, etc. <a
