Hi,
I've been trying to figure out how to rip my own collection of DVD's to save
onto my laptop. I've had no problem saving my CD's. Is there something free I
can download, so that I'm able to do this? I'm using Windows Media Player 11
and running Windows XP Pro. My friend (who uses a Macbook) said that her
computer automatically rips the DVD's when she plays them. Is this just a
feature that Win XP doesn't offer, or something I need to download to make
this possible?? Everytime I try to rip a DVD, I open Win Media Player and I
see the DVD there, but it automatically plays through PowerDVD DX. I can't
get it to play through the rip folder of Media Player, or Media Player at
all. I've checked the box so that Media Player is the default player for
DVD's as well as all CD's.
Can someone PLEASE help?! I would love to be able to save some of the DVD's
I've purchased onto my laptop.

Would apprieciate any suggestions!!

Thanks!

WMP doesn't have a DVD ripping feature, due to the hollywood copyright
policies I assume. You probably want something like DVDx instead, to
rip them to a convenient archive format that doesn't fill your entire
hard drive after 20 movies <g>  See http://www.labdv.com/dvdx/
