Whenever I play a media file using Windows Media player (or any other media
player for that matter) the media player hangs (freezes) if I use pause or
step or slow mo etc, repeatedly.
It works OK at first but then will always freeze eventually if I continue to
use pause or slo mo repeatedly - this is obviously not related to a specific
media player because it happens with all players I have installed.
I am not able to close the media player down after this, even if I use the
task manager to 'end task' - it simply stays open but in a frozen state. I am
also not able to open another media player in another window and the only way
I can rectify the situation is by rebooting completely.
Any ideas will be most appreciated - thanks in advance.

Hum.... You're in the newsgroup for the Mac version of WMP.
I know nothing of the problems you are experiencing in Windows, but
WMP10 is not the latest version. DO you still get the same issues with
WMP11?? (though I've read that a lot of users didn't like WMP11 and the
changes it brought).
