I'm running Windows XP sp2, with WMP11. I had Norton Anti virus on my
computer. I think that since I had uninstalled Norton, my Media player does
not play any CD or DVD that I insert. I get the error message "Windows Media
Player encountered a problem while playing the file. For additional
assistance, click Web Help." If I select Web help it directs me to error code
C00D11B1. I have tried several of the solutions but still can not play my CD
or DVD

Then I fear you are posting in the wrong newsgroup (this one is for the
Mac version of WMP).
You'd probably get much better replies in the regular WMP group,
