Missing codecs

I signed up for a subscription sports audio/video service (CSTV) and when
trying to view a video, or listen to audio, I get the message "Windows Media
Player cannot play this file.  One or more codecs required to play the file
could not be found."  I have been working with CSTV's support group for 1-1/2
weeks and they cannot find the problem.  We compared our codec lists and they
are identical.  They used my logon & password on their machine and they can
view the video.  I have Windows XP (SP2) and media player10.  I have all the
minimum requirements for the service.  I don't really think it is a missing
codec, but cannot figure out the reason for the message.  CSTV has given up
and says it could be on my machine.  The only thing I have different is a
"security suite" that comes with my internet DSL service (their own
anti-virus, spyware & such).  CSTV had me delete my stand-alone spyware
(SpyBot) and I still get the message.  Is there something else that would
cause this message?

The files are .wmv and .wma files.  I do not have trouble playing these files
when they come from another source.

Hum... then maybe you shouldn't be posting in
microsoft.public.windowsmedia.player.MAC ??? ;-)
(and I have no clue about the answer to your problem :-\ ),

Sorry, do you know where I should post?  There are different sites in these
newsgroups.

you have the choice between microsoft.public.windowsmedia for codec
issues or microsoft.public.windowsmedia.player if it is only a playbeack
issue (the first newsgroup is more about WM technologies in general).
