video help...

I am wanting to watch video replays on the NHL.com website, but the
video never plays. All I get is a blank video window. It seems to be
wanting to play with Windows Media Player 10. I have WMP 9 for Mac OS X
and I also have Flip4Mac. I can play videos from other websites. Why
will the video replays from NHL.com not work? Any help is appreciated!

Weird. I have Flip4Mac active on my Mac and I can playthe videos without
any problem. Are you sure that the Internet Plug-in that's active for
your System is the Flip4Mac one ?? Is it listed in /Library/Internet
Plug-ins ??

What version do you have ?? (mine says 2.1.033)

I have Flip4Mac... but not sure which version since Quicktime Player
opens when I double-click the icon. Yes, it is listed in
Library/Internet Plugins. How do I know which Internet Plugin is the
active one? Thanks for your help!

If you navigate to the folder and select the plug-in while in column view
with the preview column turned on, it should say the version in the preview
column. Otherwise, you can try selecting the plug-in and going to File >
Get Info.

Note that you can also find this information and update to the latest
version by opening System Preferences and opening the Flip4Mac WMV
preference pane. The "About" button gives the version number, and the
"Update" tab allows you to check for updates.

I have Version 2.1.0.33.... it is the latest version. I go to
www.nhl.com and i click on "videos". From there I can select which team
I want to watch the replays... and I can choose 300k or 700k. I click
either one and i get the video screen, but it's blank and nothing
plays. Why?? Weird! Thanks for the help guys!

I tried the same thing again and got the video immediately (I chose the
700k link).
What browser are you using>> It might be a browser issue. I just tried
from Safari in 10.4.8,

It must be a browser issue. I can watch the videos with Safari, but not
with Firefox. Why can I watch with Safari, but not with Firefox? I
never use Safari, so I'd really love to be able to get this to work
with Firefox. Thanks for the help!

The problem is that Firefox has issues with the QuickTiem plug-in (used
by the Flip4Mac codec to display WMV content).
I would say that as soon as FireFox supports the QuickTime plug-in, you
should be able to use it to play Windows Media content, but until
then..... I don't have any option for you :-\

I tried several browsers. All the Mozilla-based browsers failed. Opera
failed as well.
Safari, OmniWeb, Sunrise and Shiira passed (all webkit-based).

Thanks for doing this background checking.... explains well why I can't
view WMV content. I guess I will have to live with watching the video
replays with Safari. Please do not hesitate to let me know if and when
Firefox will support WMV content. There's just something about Firefox
that I like and that makes me not want to go back to Safari.

That's entirely up to the Mozilla People as far as I know.......
