I have a 400 MHz g4 powerbook with 384 MB SDRAM and 25 GB of memory on
my hard disk.  I am running Tiger.

When I double click the downloaded Windows Media sit.x for Windows
Media Player 9 for the Mac, I get  a message saying that the file does
not seem to be compressed or encoded.

What should I do?

You need a recent version of StuffIt Expander to open the .sitx file.  If
you have StuffIt Expander on your machine, try dragging the file onto the
"Expander" icon.  Otherwise, you can download a free copy here:
