Can't launch Windows Media Player

every time I try to open a wmv, the windows media player logo pops up in the
dock, bounces a few times, and then shuts down...i can't even open it!

This happens with all videos I try to open with windows media.

Someone please help!

Have you tried any of the tricks mentioned in the WMP FAQ:

In any case, you could also try to use the Flip4Mac Windows Media codecs
for Quicktime. They are free and work rather well for me:
