I recently bought a MaCBook Pro, so i tried downloading WMP 9.0. I was able
to download it, but it was a .sitx file, so I also had to download SuffIt.
But, I tried to open up WMP and it kept not responding when I was trying to
install. It would go through everything, but when it was about to install WMP
it would freeze up so i would have to force quit. It would be greatly
appreciated if someone could give me some tips or an explanation of why this
is happening.

Unfortunately, I don;t have a MacIntle to test this here.
Flip4Mac makes QuickTime codecs for Windows Media formats,
unfortunately, their codecs are not yet Universal BInary (I heard it was
coming).
There is a trick to install the current version though: select their
installer in the Finder, press command-i and look for an option to
launch it as a PPC installer. Then run the installer and the codecs
should make it where they belong.

Does it help to know about the Flip4Mac plugin for Quicktime ?
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx

It allows playback of almost all WMP content and is actively
maintained, unlike the standard player. While you can run the two side
by side (flipping between them in system settings) it's now the
recommended playback solution for WMP content on Mac OSX

(it's not universal binary yet... but with a little bit of work it could
work...)

About WMV-9 Component
"Lets you import, view, and export WMV-9 files with QuickTime. It
support export to any file format that QuickTime supports and WMV-9
Component 2.0 also runs on both PPC and x86 Macintosh computers.

The evaluation version has no limits in regards to import and viewing of
VMW-9 files, making it the first Windows Media plug-in for QuickTime
that runs on both x86 and PPC hardware."

Yeah, this one I've never tried... They cost about $50... I've been
rather hesitant to even give them a try since I wasn't sure I'd ever buy
a license. They also only seem to support WMV and WMA 9 :-\

Thanks for your input. I have actually tried tweaking with it, but i can't
seem to get it to work. Hopefully the flip4mac will be out for intel-based
macs soon.

I also have a MacBook Pro and installed WMP 9.  After a couple uses, it
will not load up again.  I tried re-installing, rebooting, etc.  Now i
just want it gone!!  My questions are: what files do i have to erase to
get this completely out of my system (i erased all the obvious ones).
The installer said it installed 510 files.  Is that for real!?.  And, 2
did i do any damage to my MacBook Pro??  Any help greatly appreciated.
