I just got the new intel mac. The problem is that when I download Media
Player 9, .bin file, it does not start installing, but rather the file opens
in Microfot Excel instead of installing, is this a common problem, how do I
fix
Thanks

Select the file in the Fidner, press command-i and go to select Open
With "Windows Media Player" Then click on the "Apply to all" button to
make sure the change is applied on all files of the same format,

I have come across the same thing, however, I cannot find the application
Windows Media Player to use to open it with? Isnt this what I am installing?
I don't have previous versions of WMP installed.

The term "WMP downloads" is misleading then. I understood "WMP content"
(movies, music...), but maybe you meant the installer itself...
In this case, you ened to install first Stuffit Expander
(http://www.suffit.com? - free) and then drag the file you downloaded on
Stuffit Expander.
The installer should then expand and be ready for the installation. Just
double-click it and it should install.
You could also consider using the Flip4Mac QuickTime codecs for WMP
instead. Unless you really need to access DRM 1 or 1.3 content (old) the
Flip4Mac codecs are a much better solution IMVHO.
