I tried to watch a music video and got this error message:
"The page “Hey Girl live” has content of MIME type “application/x-mplayer2”,
but you don’t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type. A plug-in should
be available on this page:
http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/MediaPlayer/download/default.asp"
I went to the site and downloaded the appropriate player for OSX, but when I
tried to open it I got this error message:
"Safari can’t open the file “Windows Media.sitx” because no available
application can open it."
...which is odd because I have checked the system requirements and I seem to
have all I need...any ideas?

Note that you need a recent version of StuffIt Expander (free) to open the
.sitx file. If you don't have it, get a free copy here:
<http://www.stuffit.com/mac/expander/>
You might want to try dragging the icon onto the StuffIt Expander
application icon.

Thank you. This worked perfectly!

While attempting to watch streaming music videos from www.cmt.com, I got
exactly the same error message (content MIME type "application/x-mplayer2"),
then downloaded and installed WMP 9.0 for OS X (10.4.3). Now I no longer get
the error message, but the videos play only the first few seconds then loop
once, then stop.
The buffer in WMP preferences is set to the default. Otherwise I don't know
what to do. Is there some underlying System setting I am unaware of (which
would be most of them on Mac).
Any constructive suggestions would be appreciated.
By the way, these streaming videos run fine in WMP 10 on my PC running XP
Home SP2.
