I have stuffit 10. downloaded. When I attempt to download media player 9,
I click on the icon in my hardrive but it only launches itunes. I cannot
rid my computer of this preference as i have tried to download properly
several times. I've checked some other posts but i haven't found the
answer yet. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Install WMP and launch it at least once. Then you can select a WMP file
in the Finder, press command-i and select Open With to chose WMP there.
Apply to all and that should fix your problem,
