The host is unreachable

Hi there,
Just setup a Win2K3 server with many websites and Windows Media
Services. WMS uses port 90 for HTTP requests, and the firewall is all
configured. The chaps in the server newsgroup helped me get it all sorted.

The streams were all working happily on the macs last week, but
something must have changed over the weekend, as my iMac gives me "The
host is unreachable". I have had one other vistitor to my website tell
me the same thing.

www.dmcworld.com/technics2005/video.asp is the page with the videos.

Could anyone using a Mac have a look for me, and if anyone knows how to
cure this problem I would love to know.

Kind regards,

Steve

Could any of you mac owners with Windows Media Player test some of my
streams for me and let me know if they work?

Cheers,

Steve

Ok I made a few tests and got interesting results.
I tried one of the .wvx links on the page. The file immediately
downlaoded and WMP launched. Unfortunately I got the same error message
you did.
I edited the wvx file and copied the mms:// link in there:
mms://81.201.139.223:90/vids/2005dj1-100k.wmv
to use it in WMP directly and again I got the same problem. Since I
wanted to verify whether the host was indeed unreachable, I played
around with the link and it turns out that if I replace the mms by http,
it works just fine both from my browser and from WMP itself (using
command-u "Open URL").

It's ovioulsy a bug in WMP. This workaround is really tedious, but at
least it did te trick,

Could it be due to me using port 90? Maybe that confuses the player? If
I add the http:// link to the wvx file that may get around it? For PC
users it would just play the file again, but would the Mac users for the
host not reachable? I will play around and see what I can make it do.

Thanks for the help!
