I'm trying to connect a couple of Mac OS X 10.4.8to my win 2003 server (standard edition). And now I've spent the better of this whole day trying to download UAM. I've read all that I can find on how to connect tha Mac's but it all ends with installing the UAM, which seems impossible to download. I simple cannot find it. I'm acutally starting to feel like a complete fool over this. You don't need it for 10.4.8 because the necessary security is built in. Hope this helps!  Signaturebill William M. I can connect shared folders and browse them but there still are some problems, or real showstoppers you could say. 1. All filename are presented with only 8 characters (as in DOS) when I browse the folders that are shared. 2. If I try to open a file I get an errorcode 10660 on the Mac. Folders and subfolders are browsed as they should be. Do you have any ideas? Thanks again Bill. It uses the AFP 2.2 protocol, which does not support file/folder names longer than 31 characters. You're probably seeing files on the server placed there by Windows folks who can create names up to about 250 characters in length. Not sure about the 10660 messages. You should really consider using some third party software. Mac OS X 10.4 and higher use AFP 3.2, which has some incompatibilities with AFP 2.2. Microsoft is not planning to update Windows Server with AFP 3.2 but will instead remove File Services for Macintosh altogether after Windows Server 2003. Look into Group Logic's ExtremeZ-IP <http://www.grouplogic.com> or Thursby's Dave or ADmitMac <http://www.thursby.com>. Hope this helps! Signaturebill William M.
