Hi i wonder if someone could provide me with some advice. Our school
runs a windows domain and 99.9% windows xp clients. We have just got
an emac running OS X (panther). As the kids are more literate with the
windows network we want to make using the mac as similar and easy as
possible.

I have managed to get the mac to log on to active directory so users
can use the same login name and password, however when i test the mac
with domain password and usernames i can log onto the mac but am
presented with a terminal and asked to log in again, i retype my user
credentials and i get a prompt where i can type various unix type
commands but i dont get the OS x GUI.

How can i make it so my users get right into the network and onto the
OS X desktop to work without having to log in twice and without seeing
the terminal. I would also like to make a link to the users home
folder on the 2k server appear on the desktop? Can this be done, any
help would be great. I am well aquainted with windows and some unix
but not mac.
