I want to run MS-DOS 6.22 on VPC 6.1 on Mac OSX 10.3.6
I need to run a .exe prog which I have on my OSX desktop, but am unable to
access the Shared Folders function to install it in my Virtual DOS machine.
I've tried clicking on Install Additions in the bottom bar but nothing
happens. Where can I get hold of Additions for DOS, given that my CD for
Virtual PC has Windows XP Home on it? I've done a fairly major internet
trawl, learnt a lot about VPC, but no luck.

I don't think there were DOS Additions distributed with any version of
VPC 6.
You can get the DOS Additions disk image from my site here:
http://www.essjae.com/VPC/dosadditions.vfd
There is no link to it, you'll need the one above.
You need to mount this to the floppy drive in VPC, then run the
DOSADD.BAT from the A: drive.
This will give you fshare.exe which will allow you to use shared
folders.

Hi
Perhaps a DOS emulator is what you need:

I can't speak for 6.x, but with my 7.0 CD, the DOS additions are in
the Manuals & Tools folder on the install CD.

Ah, that's where they are. I was just looking inside the VPC app. I
was sure I'd seen them somewhere in VPC7, but couldn't remember.
Thanks for the info.

There are DOS additions in the Manuals & Tools folder on the VPC7 cd,
but they are not included in the extras folder on the VPC 6.1 cd, the
additional files cd, or anywhere else I looked.

Steve,
You're most kind - thanks for the link posted earlier. I discovered your
website amongst others on my internet trawl and found it very illuminating.
Thanks once again, hope I can get my prog running now.
Cheers and best wishes

Hi Lux & all,
I see that all posts stopped as of '04, but I've searched 'everywhere' and
cannot find a better forum to post to.
Background:
Install DOS (v6.22 and later also WfW 3.11) on VPC 7.0.3 on OS X 10.4.10 on
a PowerPC-based Mac (15" PowerBook G4 alu). I have the original 3.5" floppies
and an external USB floppy drive. But VPC simply won't load anything from the
floppy drive - instead, I consistently experience
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/825414/en-us. And YES, I've verified all
preparations within VPC.
- Any help would be dearly appreciated!

Is the floppy disk being captured correctly? Have you tried manually
capturing the boot floppy and resetting the VM?

I've seen this happen before. UNMOUNT the floppy drive on the Mac side
and VPC will pick it up.
