I am using VPC 6.1.1 on a Quicksilver running OS 10.3.5. The VPC OS is
Microsoft Windows XP, updated. I tried to install Norton Systemworks
2004 and instead the CD installed "GoBack". Now, it appears "GoBack"
is preventing me from opening my virtual PC. The only screen that
comes up when I attempt to startup is a GoBack screen that instructs
me to press the space bar to initiate repairs. Nothing happens when
the space bar is pressed. Same result when I try booting in VPC from
the Norton CD [it says I have to reboot and press the space bar]. I
have tried using various key combinations to start the VPC operating
system, with the ultimate intent of erasing GoBack from my machine.
Technical people at Microsoft indicate Norton SystemWorks 2004 is
incompatible with VPC, and Symantec technical service is "working on a
solution". Can anyone suggest a solution?
There is no solution, other than not using GoBack. It doesn't work
with VPC as you found out.
If you have a complete version of XP, try booting from the cdrom and
repairing XP. Note, there are 2 chances to repair XP, you want the
second repair, not the first one that is prompted, continue the
installation until you're asked again about repairing.
