Does anyone have an idea when the VPC7 for Mac is shipping out? From
the Microsoft's Mactopia website, all I could get was "pre-order"
links. Any help is appreciated.

Hi Kausik,

The most accurate information you can get about the release date is to
ask your favorite vendor about it. Some postings here indicate that a
vendor indicated delivery was expected this week sometime.

Good crystal balls are hard to come by these days, however, so any
prognistcation is frought with the possibility of error.

Just got an update that VPC 7 / XP Pro has shipped from MAC Mall. Now I
wish I had overnighted it. Guess I'll have to wait for ground
shipping.

That's great to know!

As soon as you get the product please post a message. Others are
interested, I'm sure.

Just got VPC / XP Pro today from MacMall. Installed it on my Dual G5
2gig.
List the processor as 533 Mhz with 512m of ram and 16m of video ram.
Installed Visio 2000 and Office 2000 so far. No games yet.
Visio worked as well as it does on my wifes new Dull laptop from her
office.
I can't out type MS Word. did'nt try Excel or Powerpoint. I am going to
try autocad 2000 as soon as I can get a copy from work and will report
how it seems to work.

If you have to run Windows only software and have a G5. I would think
this is an acceptable solution.

So, you're either breaking your NDA and talking about the beta, or
you've got it illegally.

Beta software usually has debug code in it, and as such doesn't run as
fast as it should.  Generally, beta apps aren't compiled for
performance.

now that i noticed the MS PR release for VPC 7, that should explain
what i'm experiencing.   they proudly claim "...runs 10 to 30 %
faster..."    VPC would be bearable if it ran 100 to 200 % faster than
VPC 6  !      the last VPC that really was worth dealing with was VPC
3, imho.    i keep hoping ....
